Embarking on a journey towards light…

Mind-soul

Tamaso Maa Jyotir Gamaya – A phototactic movement in search of the Soul or Atma

Soul, running after the uprising thirst  for better living, falls prey to the  mere word “fear” – fear of death, fear of losing, fear of lacking and fear of being alone.  The three basic needs of our urban life- “Roti, Kapra and Bandwidth” add hindrance to the basic understanding of one self –  a self which is free from the bondage of doubts, from the basic question “Why”; a self which cherishes its freedom and is independent of joy and sorrow.  Let’s not welcome the depression standing outside the door…From the downward spiral of depression, few pathways lead to a healthy and confident You. Take refuge in “Buddha”- the path which seeks the truth in one’s journey and the two eternal truths are -“ Death is immense and indispensable” and “Change is the only constant term”. Only a controlled mind can make you the master of yourself.

Follow these steps to control your mind:

  • Renouncing unstable words, deeds and thoughts:

Silence is more powerful than words. Let the afflictive emotions choose their own path leading to the cause. Listening to others for understanding and not to contradict is the first difficult step one has to practice. Calmness hits one’s  mind in this journey. It is always better to give up in the race of comparison and raise the hope of finding oneself or the Chetana.

  • Worship a routine:

The word “worship” has long changed its course to mean a routine in human’s life. Niyama is the first step in Raj yoga which speaks about the same. Whether you are  single or  a part of a family, a routine life starting with a time for celebrating individuality has to be practised.

  • Awake with the birth of each dawn:

Rise up when darkness culminates into a bright morning and nature is uncontaminated. Start the journey of the day with a cool glass of water as mentioned in Hatha yoga. With the rising sun, yogasanas like Suryanamaskar helps accelerating the blood circulation in the body and Pranayama which deals with inhalation and exhalation makes the nervous system active. Some basic asanas can be practised for activating the muscles and joints.  Exercises like swimming or cycling is beneficial for keeping the body fit.

  • The word  “OM”:

With a deep breath in a posture comfortably keeping the spinal cord upright, start chanting “OM”. The sound energy has enormous influence over the solar plexus chakra or the third chakra in the body known as Manipura present behind the naval. The third chakra is the center of self-esteem, your willpower, self-discipline, as well as warmth in one’s personality. The ancient word OM has got syllabic fragmentation of “aa” and “aum” which emphasizes on breathing and acts on the energy transfer from the Mulodhara, the first chakra in vertebral column just above the anus. Purpose of this sound energy is to uplift the energy hidden in the chakras towards the attainment of “Brahma” or “Moksha”.

  • Meditation:

The last step to perform for Moksha is meditation. One can practise meditation to attain void in the mind. The word means focusing into the light with a mind devoid of any thought. Soul can be understood by meditation. Lust/ craving/ ego are few forlorn words for a meditating mind. It can communicate with the nature and perceive things without a bodily connection. It can give up deceit and believe in the infinite potential of the self.

Live a day with a juvenile heart and a smiling face which can combat a fatty abdomen, a second chin, a wrinkled skin or baldness. Life is immense and beautiful. Try it!!!!
