Hair packs/masks for frizzy hair

Frizzy hair is a common problem for the modern day women. Use of SLS and SLEs filled shampoos, Hydrogen Peroxide loaded conditioners and Ammonia rich hair colors act as the primary causes for dry and frizzy hair. Use of excessive heat and chemicals to achieve particular hair styles also make hair frizzy over time. Frizzy hair is characterized by rough, dry, dull and damaged hair with split ends that is difficult to manage.  It can even trigger hair fall. A number of products are available in the market that claims to control the condition, and many of them are actually effective. However, using any cosmetic product for over a long period of time might not be that good; that is why turning to home remedies is always the best option. Different home remedies can be very effective to control any extent of hair frizz and they show immediate results without any side effects even after continuous use over months. The homemade hair packs that can tame your frizzy hairs effectively while turning them to naturally shiny, smooth and lustrous tresses are listed below.

Banana and Honey

Mix 1 banana with 2 tablespoons of honey; apply thoroughly all over your hairs and scalp. Let the pack work for 1 hour, wash off with cold water. If needed follow with a mild shampoo. Banana and Honey both moisturizes the hairs, repair damages and split ends promoting excellent hair health. Use this pack at least 3 times a week at the beginning and increase the gap as you go.

Egg and Lavender oil

Mix one egg with 10 drops of lavender oil. The egg will nourish and condition your hair, while the lavender oil will penetrate deep into the hair shafts and repair. Apply this pack on your hairs for 50 minutes to 1 hour and then wash off with a mild shampoo. Take this treatment 2 days a week at the beginning for best results.

Avocado and Honey

Avocado and Honey both are well known for their rich moisturizing effect. To control hair frizz immediately crush 2 while avocados in a grinder after removing the seeds, then mix it with 1 tablespoon of honey. Spread the pack all over your hairs and scalp and leave for an hour. Wash off with plain water, and follow with a mild shampoo only if needed. Use this pack as often as you can.

Coconut Milk and Olive oil

The freshly prepared coconut milk can do wonder in repairing damaged hair. Olive oil is another highly effective deep conditioner that ensures the best health of the hair. Prepare fresh coconut milk by crushing half of a coconut pulp in a grinder, and strain. Now mix this coconut milk with 1 tablespoon of olive oil and apply on your scalp and hairs. Leave it on your hairs as long as possible. Wash off with plain water and a mild shampoo.

Yogurt and Papaya

The effect of yogurt on dry and frizzy hairs is instant. Ripe papaya also helps in controlling freeze by nourishing the hair strands. Mix 2 tablespoons of yogurt with 4 ripe papaya cubes. Make a smooth paste and apply to your hairs. Let the pack set for 30 minutes and then wash off with plain water. Use this hair pack twice a week for best results.

Milk and Almond

Crush 5 almonds to a paste and mix it with adequate amount of un-boiled whole milk to make a paste. Rub in this paste to your hairs and scalp. Leave on for one hour and wash off with water. Almond and milk both can nourish hairs extensively due to their high protein content. The milk fat in whole milk helps in conditioning the hair. This hair pack can instantly control even extreme frizz.

Fenugreek Seeds with Coconut oil

Fenugreek seeds are capable to control any hair problem, be it excessive hair fall, hair freeze or hair damage. Use a pack of Fenugreek seeds (2 tablespoon) and coconut oil (1 tablespoon) on your hairs and scalp and leave for 50 minutes before washing off with a mild shampoo. Repeat at least thrice in a week to get visible results.

Mayonnaise with Honey

No matter the extent of frizz your hair is suffering from this hair pack can effectively rescue you. Take two tablespoons of Mayonnaise and add 1 tablespoon of Honey. Mix well and apply thoroughly to your hairs. Let the pack sit for 40-50 minutes and wash off thoroughly with a cleanser. The effect is instant and you need to follow it at least once in a week depending on your hair condition.

Aloe Vera and Rosemary oil

Aloe Vera is an excellent moisturizer and when combined with rosemary oil it can do wonders for hairs. Prepare fresh Aloe Vera pulp by grinding 1 Aloe Vera leaf in a mixer and add 12-15 drops of Rosemary oil to the pulp and mix well. Rub in this mixture into your hairs and scalp, leave the pack on your hairs for an hour or more, and wash off with a mild cleanser. Apply this pack for 2-3 times a week to control extreme frizz.

Shea butter and Corn starch

Melt some shea butter on a microwave bowl and add corn starch to it to make a paste. Now apply this mixture to your hairs. Leave on for 20 minutes and wash off with a cleanser.  The shea butter and starch pack can effectively control frizz.

Hibiscus flowers /leaves with coconut oil

This herb has the properties to treat hair frizz. Take 20 hibiscus flowers/leaves grind them to make a paste and add 2 teaspoons of coconut oil. Apply this mixture lavishly onto your hairs and scalp. Let it sit for 1 hour and wash off with water. Do not use a separate hair cleanser.

Pumpkin and Honey

Pumpkins are rich in vitamins, minerals and beta carotene which make them perfect for treating hair freeze. Take some fresh pumpkin, scrap off the skin and make a smooth paste in a grinder. Now add 1 tablespoon of honey to it and mix well. Apply this pack on your hairs and leave for 30 minutes. Wash off with water. Use a mild cleanser if needed.

Amla hair and Almond oil pack

From the ancient times Amla has been known for its magical properties.  Amla, apart from controlling hair fall and greying hair can also control frizz effectively. Take 3-4 medium sized Amla, remove the seed and grind the flesh to make a smooth paste. Add 2 teaspoons of Almond oil to the pack to make it even more moisturizing and rich in protein. Apply this pack lavishly on your hairs and scalp, let it sit for another hour and wash off with plain water and a mild cleanser.

Sesame seeds with Vitamin E and curry leaf

Take a tablespoon full of sesame seeds and soak them in water overnight. In the morning grind thoseseeds along with 10-12 curry leaves. Add the whole content of a Vitamin E capsule to the mixture and apply the pack onto your hairs and scalp. Let it sit for 30 minutes and wash off with plain water and a cleanser.

Brown sugar, essential oils and olive oil

Mix 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 15-20 drops of essential oil (lavender/ rosemary) with a tablespoon of brown sugar to make a smooth paste. Now apply this pack on your hairs. Leave for 1 hour and wash off with plenty of water and a mild cleanser.

Oatmeal and Apple Cider Vinegar

Mix 1 tablespoon of oatmeal with 1 tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar to make a runny mask. Apply this onto your hairs and sit for 10 minutes. Wash off with plenty of normal water. ACV is believed to be highly effective in curing hair frizz and oatmeal will help in taming the hair strands.

Flaxseeds with mustard oil

Flaxseeds are believed to have some great medicinal properties and they can reduce hair freeze in the best way when added with mustard oil. Soak some flaxseeds in 1 cup of fresh water over night. In the morning boil the water till the water content comes to half. Now let the mixture cool and take it to a grinder to make a paste. Add 2 teaspoons of mustard oil to this pack and mix well. Apply onto your hairs, leave for an hour and then wash off with a cleanser to get frizz free hair.
