Pedicure is the process for the care of feet and toenails. The word pedicure is derived from two Latin words –‘Pedi’ meaning foot and ‘cura’ meaning care. Pedicure is a common beauty regime followed regularly by most women in the world. Pedicure involves the process of trimming nails of the foot, removing dead skin cells from the bottom of the foot and giving a massage to the foot and legs. Ingredients needed
In order to start a process of pedicure, you must have few thing handy. The ingredients needed in this purpose include nail polish remover, cuticle oil, a bath towel, large bowl, exfoliating foot scrub, nail clipper, hand towel, a foot callus file, base coat, foot lotion, nail file with fine grit, foot lotion etc.
Remover usage
Generally, ladies leave nail polish in their feet for long and forget to remove it. The left over nail polish makes a clumsy appearance to their feet. You must use a mild acetone nail remover by putting it in the cotton pad and applying the same on foot nails. It is important to use acetone remover than those of non acetone remover as these does not harm your nails.
Soaking
Another step in pedicure for ladies is soaking feet on a large bowl with Luke warm water. It is better, if you can pour some salt in the warm water. Step 1 Firstly remove the nail polish and soaks the feet for 20 minutes in a tub of warm water to which liquid soap is added. A pinch of salt, ammonia acid and baking powder can be added to the tub for soaking.
Steps 2 The rough spots on the foot need to be rubbed with a good exfoliate to remove the dead skin cells. Salt crystals or sugar granules can be used to scrub the feet. The scrubbing must be done from the toes, to the ankles and up to the calves in circular motion. Remove the residue with warm water.
Step 3 Most of the corns, bumps or calluses become soft by soaking by this time. They need to be smoothened with pumice stone or lava rock. The scrubbing must be done in back and forth gentle movements while scraping the heels and the bottom of the feet and places between the toes.
Step 4 This is the step to trim the nails with a steel clipper. The nails need to be trimmed straight and then filed with a nail file to make the edges of the nails smooth. Care is a must in cutting the nails as any error can lead to the painful condition of ingrown toe nails.
Step 5 The soles need to be given a proper massage with a good moisturizing lotion in circular movements. The massage is done all over the lower legs and feet. This massage will relax the feet and improve circulation of the feet.
Step 6 The last and final step of pedicure is to paint the nails with the desired shade of nail polish. Apply nail polish after inserting finger separators made with rolled tissue paper or cotton wool or foam pads. Always ally a base coat before giving the final coat of nail polish. Leave the polish to dry for at least 20 minutes.
