Oval face shape
Oval shaped faces are considered to be the most appealing as they pull off styles very easily – be it hairstyle, eyebrow shape or even blush strokes! If you are one of the lucky women to have an oval face shape, all you need to do is dash a color on your cheeks. Take a fluffy brush and add some color on the apple of your cheeks, now slowly sweep it up towards the temple. Blend the blush to you are sorted!
Round face shape
Round face shapes have round chin and chubby cheeks. To make the face look slimmer, you have to draw vertical lines. Round face women shouldn’t apply blush directly on their cheeks, this could make their face look fuller. To apply it in the right way, take a tapered brush and then apply long vertical strokes at 45 degree angle. Start from underneath the apples and then towards the ears. This will help you get the desired blush and it will not make your face look chubby.
Square face shape
If the width of your cheeks, jaw-line and forehead are almost the same, you might be having a square shaped face. If you can shade the cheeks strategically you might reduce the harsh angles of the bone structure, especially the prominent jaw-lines. Apply a soft shade of your blush on the apples of your cheek and then swirl in circular motions. Use a blush or bronzer for tracing the jaw-line with the edges of your forehead. This will soften harsh lines and make your face have the apt blush due to it.
Heart face shape
If you have a broad forehead and your cheeks tapers down to a narrow chin, then your face shape is known as heart or diamond. These faces have a nice bone structure and the edges need to be toned down with proper and softened blush. Start from the outer part of the cheekbones and sweep the blush inwards. Shade the corners of your forehead to enhance the top of your face.
Oblong face shape
Oblong and rectangular faces have length and not width. With your makeup, you have to try and make your face look broader and not exaggerate the length. Start off from the apples of your cheeks and then sweep the blush towards the ears horizontally. This makes your face look wider. You also have to blend the edges and apply the same shade of color for your chin and eye makeup. This way you have the perfect blush and you make your hair look broader.
Tips on applying blush
- Choose a color which is close to the color of your palm, while deciding which blush suits your skin tone. Tighten your fist and apply the color on it. When you open your palm, see how close both the tones seem like. If the color is similar, it will not over the top for your cheeks.
- If you want to go for a natural tint, choose a blush which would match the undertones of your skin. Pick a cool or warm toned color according to how you can carry it.
- For making your blush last long, remember to apply crème blush while the foundation is damp. Blend both of them together and dust with loose powder.
- Cream blush is recommended for mature skin. It gives a natural look and blends well. For applying this, put one dot of cream on the apples of your cheek and a couple of dots on the cheekbones. Blend well till you reach the hairline.
- If you want a sexy look, apply shimmery blush at the peak of your cheekbones.
- To brighten the eyes, you can blush a little over the eyelids.
