Formatting
It’s very important that you format your article according to Hey Beautiful formatting style. Follow the common formatting guidelines:
- Break your sentences into paragraphs.
- Use bulleted lists wherever possible.
- Don’t overuse bold and italic formatting.
- For main headlines use H1.
- For sub-headlines use H3.
Images
If you are taking your own pictures as illustrations, make sure the image width is 640px, preferred height is 400px, when saving for the web on Photoshop, save it in 80% quality, .jpg image.
Make sure to name the images correctly giving descriptive titles:
bad example – photo1.jpg
good example – you-are-ready-to-quit-your-job-in-2015.jpg
To better convey the point don’t forget to add a caption under the image.
For the featured image there are two options, cover image should be 1600x1000px size or 640x400px size for a normal post. Make sure the image is not distorted or disproportionally stretched. For free, high-quality images to use in your articles check Unsplash, Stock Up, and StockSnap.
Links
Don’t link out more than needed. When linking out make sure the website is a credible and trusted resource.
