We all keep listening or reading about fitness being important in life. Yet we do not pay heed to it. But if we persevere, we can achieve what we dream for. Shipra Mathur did just that.
From 84 kgs post pregnancy, she is now an awesome 62 kgs beautifully done in 6 months.
Here she shares her journey with us and surely inspires us.
When did your weight become an issue?
After pregnancy I put on weight. I was never a very lean person in past but not as fatty as after delivery. It became an issue whenever I saw myself in the mirror. I always felt very low and depressed. Some of my relatives and friends mocked me behind my back. Whenever I would go for shopping had to choose with XL or XXL sizes. Even many times I compromised with my outfits because bigger sizes were not available everywhere. I want to be fit. I am a selfie freak and suddenly I stopped taking any picture of mine being in depression. Then I decided to lose my weight anyhow.
What were your previous diet attempts?
I have tried many so and so diets in past like GM diet, only eat salads and fruits, boiled veggies drinks like lemon water with honey, Cinnamon water but nothing did work.
What makes this fitness routine different?
First it’s important to understand exactly why it’s worth it to fully commit to your workouts and diet, over time your body will build up strength, endurance and stamina as a result of regular physical activity. It is the only way to progress rather than plateau. This fitness routine feels me much better than I was in past. It helps me to boost focus, reduce stress and aids in better sleep.
What was your light bulb moment that pushed you to lose weight?
I read many articles, saw on social media and online fitness groups that has inspired me to push myself towards fitness and obviously my inner feeling to be fit. I loved fitness ever since I was just a kid.
How much did you lose so far? How long did it take?
I have lost 22 kg and it took 6 months.
How much do you have to lose now?
I want to lose 4 to 5 kg more now, according to my height.
What kept you motivated when you were down?
My will power and determination to be fit. And my mirror. 🙂 That’s why I want to reduce extra inches and weight. This helped me to stay committed and motivated to reach my weight lose goal. I set smart (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time-bound) process goals which helped me stay motivated. While focusing only on outcome goals, it can lead to disappointment and decrease motivation.
What do you think hitting goal will be like?
When you have lost a ton of weights and you feel as fit as ever but wait. You suddenly notice the weight is not coming off anymore and that you are not getting any faster, stronger or lighter. You start getting the sinking feeling that may be.. Just may be you are regressing. Fear is not my type a fitness nuts. You have simply hit a plateau and are ready to climb to new heights.
And most importantly, I will stay away from many diseases in long run and enjoy my healthy life. Really hard works pay off.
Setting unattainable goals can lead to feelings of frustration and cause you to give up. On the contrary setting and accomplishing achievable goals leads to feelings of accomplishment.☺
What is the biggest struggle: food, exercise, temptation?
My biggest struggle was sweet cravings. I am not much into food but sweetness is my weakness, especially chocolates. But if you want to really achieve something in life then it’s not a big deal or hurdle.
I stuck on a diet because fitness is not just a goal it’s a lifestyle for me and many.
How has your weight loss affected your relationships?
Our relationship became more stronger than before. My hubby feels proud of me for this because he knows it was not so easy . He surely loves me more and also respects for my efforts towards fitness.
