Here we will discuss about some of the common skin problems during summer and how to cure them with simple home remedies.

Heat rash

This is one of the most common skin issues that many people face during summer. Heat rash is caused due to clogged sweat ducts. When the perspiration is trapped within the sweat glands and is not able to come above the skin, they accumulate under the skin and causered itchy spots, bumps or even blisters. Heat rashes are most common in the skin folds and areas that come in contact with clothes. Normally, heat rash goes off naturally within 3-4 days; and in this span you need to ensure that you put on only lightweight and breathable clothing so that the skin of the affected area is not further rubbed or the perspiration is not trapped within the clothing, exaggerating the condition.

Remedy: The best way to prevent this condition is to ensure that the sweat pores under the skin are not clogged. You can do that by scrubbing your skin regularly with a mild scrubber, which will keep the dead cells and dirt away from the pores. The most effective home remedy to treat heat rash is Aloe Vera. Prepare some fresh Aloe Vera pulp from Aloe Vera leaves and apply it onto the affected skin twice or thrice a day. It will relieve the itching and burning sensation. If the condition is not cured within 3-4 days or it is not improved even after using Aloe Vera for 2 days, check out with a doctor.

Sun allergy

Sun allergy is another common summer skin problem for people with high skin sensitivity. Unlike sunburn, sun allergy can affect you even if you chose to stay indoors when the sun is high. This is a skin condition caused as an allergy to the sun rays and heat. Sun allergies can be of different types and they can be of different extent. Common types of sun allergies will reduce naturally within 1-2 days and take around 1 week to cure completely, if not exposed to heat. If the condition seems to worsen with time consult a skin specialist.

Remedy: The best prevention from sun allergies is to stay away from sun and heat. So, if you have a very sensitive skin, chose to stay within air conditioned environment during the day. Sun allergies usually start with a mild burning sensation on the affected part of the skin. So, as soon as you feel anything like that treat it with cold water or a mixture of cold water and witch hazel. Aloe Vera gel can also be helpful.

Prickly Heat rash

The rashes appear in form of small red raised bumps and are most common on parts like back, armpits and neck.

Remedy: Controlling excessive sweat by staying within air-conditioned environment or by cooling down the body repeatedly through frequent bathing can be the best prevention for this condition. Prickly heat rashes can be best treated by using home remedies like Aloe Vera and Witch hazel. These remedies reduce the itchy feeling considerably. Using medicated skin soothing lotions like calamines can also be helpful.

Sunburn

When your skin is exposed to the harmful UV rays of the sun during summer it takes the burn. Sunburn can be very painful and it causes darkening of the skin of the burnt area. Sunburn is most common in skin areas that remain exposed, like the face, neck and the hands.

Remedy: The best prevention from sunburn is to wear light breathable clothes that cover most of the skin. Also use a sunscreen lotion that offers protection from both UV-A and UV-B rays. In case you get sunburn, treat it immediately with cold rose water or Aloe Vera gel. You can follow with a pack of sour curd and moisturize the affected skin with coconut oil afterwards to get the best results. In extreme cases, consult a doctor.

Insect bites and stings

During the summer months insects like spiders, mosquitoes, ants and bees all come out of their hiding places. Hence, getting an insect bite or sting during summer is pretty common. If the insect bite seems to be severe, consult a doctor.
